Rio De Vida!

This term our new topic is Rio De Vida. The children will be learning all about Brazil, and although the topic has a music focus it will cover all subjects across the curriculum. The children will be looking at maps of Brazil, will explore the Brazilian carnival samba music with a focus on percussion instruments and will be making their own carnival masks and collages.

What a great way to end our summer term! A BIG thank you to all who attended our Carnival! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!!

Enchanted Woodland

We started this topic by exploring our local Nature Reserve, looking at animal and plant life. Here's some pictures of us exploring our local environment...

Our trip to Cardiff Museum - A perfect way to end our spring topic, Dinosaur Planet.

Super Measuring!

As part of our 'Dinosaur World' topic we have been thinking about how big dinosaurs really were!

We used our shoes to measure the size of a dinosaur footprint and our bodies to work out how long a T-Rex was!

Year 1 have thoroughly enjoyed the build up to Christmas! Take a look at some of what we've been up to.

We hope you all have a lovely holiday and look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

SUPERHEROES!!

We hope you had a wonderful half term break.  This half term we are learning all about Superheroes!

On Friday 11th November the children put on their capes and masks and set off on a 'Superhero Hunt'. We used our super senses to search for superheroes hiding in the school grounds!

Remembering the importance of this day we thought about our real superheroes in the World. We made poppies for all our fallen heroes.
